Types of portrait photography
Traditional portraits show a subject smiling and looking at the camera. A traditional portrait is normally photographed in a studio with a simple background.
Boudoir / Dudeoir portraits focus on the beauty of a person and are sometimes known as a “beauty” portrait. They tend to be more sensual and often shot in underwear, swimwear, or nude.
Candid portrait photography is focused on capturing the subject not acknowledging the photographer.
An environmental or lifestyle portrait captures people in an environment that has meaning to them; lifestyle tends to be less posed than environmental portraits.
Head shot photography is literally a photograph of someone's head usually used for professional purposes although sometimes can be more creative such as capturing expressions.
